The Northern Wisconsin Paranormal Society Ltd was founded by Kevin Malek in 2008 to help families & individuals who have questions or concerns (involving any kind of paranormal or unexplained phenomena) to have a place where they could go for help. We are a greater good,  501c3 non profit organization that studies, investigates, & documents paranormal/supernatural phenomena. We service the top third of Wisconsin & are based out of Oneida County in Rhinelander, where the Northwoods Paranormal Resource Center (Headquarters for the NWPS) is located. The general idea behind the society is to bring the best paranormal minds in the area to help families cope & deal with paranormal activity.

Over the years, we've been fortunate enough to accumulate some of the best paranormal professionals in the area into one group. They come from various disciplines & areas of expertise, which allows us to look at each case we work on from multiple professional perspectives. This way we can meet in the middle & determine the best course of action in a more well rounded fashion This also allows for better understanding and a higher success rate in what we do. Our society covers 8 categories of the unexplained. The categories are as follows; Ghosts & Haunted Places, Cryptozoology, Aliens & UFOs, Metaphysics, Theology, Conspiracies, Forbidden Archaeology, & Folklore/Urban Legends. If one's paranormal questions or concerns have anything to do with any of these 8 categories, we usually can help and when we can't, we know the right people who can.

That is one of the reasons we network. We currently have 4 affiliates we are with, to better help us to help you. When we take a case, we have procedures & protocols we follow as well as a strong ethics base. We have a code of ethics we follow. We give to each client a copy of our ethics list. We also respect the anonymity of our clients. We provide a waiver in which one can choose between the different choices of anonymity, which we abide by & respect. We also have permission to investigate waivers as well which we ask be signed before we start physical investigation of the said location. As l stated, although we approach each case from different perspectives, we acknowledge both scientific & metaphysical approaches to investigating the paranormal. We have a mind, body, and soul philosophy which we also acknowledge as a collective, & we look at how paranormal occurrences impact the individuals in all three ways. The better we understand the situation, the more we can do to help. Sometimes the answer isn't one big thing to do, but several smaller things which should be incorporated instead.

We average 1 to 2 residential haunting cases per month. This doesn't include the tours or locations where families aren't a factor, such as abandoned locations or cemeteries. We go to those type of places for training & research reasons. But as far as residential cases where a family is involved, working a case takes more time & energy than what one may see on television. We usually follow a basic formula unless there is specific reason to do otherwise. Although we have separate formulas for different kinds of phenomenon, we generally follow the same premise overall. Since hauntings are our most typical requests for help, we will give you an example using that.

We do the preliminary investigation first after the initial contact with the client is made. The preliminary basically consists of 3 main goals, which are the medium walk, the interview with the client/family, and an e.m.f. (electro-magnetic fields) sweep of the location to establish baseline readings. These are usually done in the daytime or early evening. After the preliminary is over, the next step is to do a historical background check of the property, & follow up on any leads for information. Once we have that, the next step is the night investigation. This usually starts in the evening & goes through out the course of the night until early morning. This is when we attempt to collect evidence so we can determine who or what is haunting the locale, how many, etc...

We set up video & audio throughout the building & spend the evening trying different ways to make contact & collect evidence. It should be noted that we generally do not use or recommend provocation. The only time provocation is acceptably used is during religious provocation to determine whether a malevolent entity is demonic in nature. However, this is rarely ever done as demonic hauntings are rare in themselves. The client(s) would be notified before any provocation would be attempted. It's always very important that we as a society never come into a case & make the situation worse. Provocation can not only result in harm to the provoker or group, it also can trigger later retaliation against the family after the group leaves. This is why we don't provoke 99% of the time. Plus it's disrespectful & increases negativity. We also don't use or condone ouija boards as a contact tool because the majority of reports stemming from the boards are negative.

After we've conducted the night investigation, we take two weeks to go over the evidence. Once we have all the evidence from all the Investigators, we schedule a reveal/recap of events & evidence collected. When we have the reveal meeting with the client, they can then decide on what they want done next, or how they want to deal with the information we've given them. Sometimes just getting some information on what's going on is all they want. Other times however the haunting needs to be addressed once we have an idea of what we are dealing with. We collect evidence to determine what we are dealing with, not to showcase it all over social media. So the reveal isn't always the last step in the process for us. We are prepared to deal with malevolent hauntings of various kinds. Another thing that we are always prepared to do is honor & work with all greater good religions. It's important we respect the religion of the client/client's household when arranging for house blessings, smudgings, cleansings, etc...
